Now is the Time. We Need Your Help.

February 20, 2011

We had a tremendous Get-Out-the-Vote rally Saturday morning.  Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky flew straight from Washington after an all-night Congressional session to give Joe and a hundred or so volunteers a rousing send-off before they hit the streets to remind Joe’s supporters to vote on Election Day!

Though we had a great day on Saturday, our work is far from done.  We need to contact more than 5,000 persons between now and Election Day to remind them to vote. Won’t you give us a hand?

Please stop by the campaign office (1774 W. Greenleaf) today or tomorrow and we’ll send you out on the streets or put you to work on the phones. We’re open today (Sunday) from 12 Noon to 9:00 p.m. and tomorrow from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

We also need your help on Election Day. We could use you from the moment the polls open to the final count, but even if you can afford to give only a few hours, your help will be much appreciated.  Please call our office at 773-973-4900 to volunteer.

As always, thank you for all your help.

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle’s “State of the County Address”

February 15, 2011

Please join me as I host Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle for a “State of the County Address” this Thursday, February 17th, 7:00 pm at New Field School, 1701 W. Morse (at Clark).  Parking is available in the lot at the southeast corner of Clark and Farwell.  I am co-hosting this event with 49th Ward Committeeman David Fagus.

Toni Preckwinkle took office as Cook County Board President in early December expecting to face significant challenges.  What she found after taking the reins from former President Todd Stroger was worse than anyone had expected.  Come hear what President Preckwinkle has been working on in her first 75 days in office, including her no-nonsense approach to cutting waste and inefficiency in County government.

President Preckwinkle will present her new budget and seek input, comments and suggestions from you and your neighbors.  Refreshments will be served.

I look forward to seeing you at what promises to be a very informative evening.

Mayoral Candidate Forum

February 3, 2011

Early Voting resumes Friday and you will have the opportunity to pick the next mayor of our City. Make your vote an informed vote. Attend the 49TH WARD MAYORAL CANDIDATE FORUM on Saturday, February 5th, 9:30 a.m. to 12 Noon, at Jordan Community School, 7414 N. Wolcott (between Fargo and Birchwood).

Sponsored by the 49th Ward Democratic Party, this forum is open to the public and is being held in conjunction with the Democratic Party’s Endorsement Session. All mayoral candidates have been invited to attend, including Gery Chico, Miguel del Valle, Rahm Emanuel, Carol Moseley Braun, Patricia Van Pelt Watkins and William “Dock” Walls. We will also hear from the candidates for City Clerk. After you hear from the candidates, cast your ballot at the 49th Ward Early Voting site at the Pottawattomie Park Fieldhouse, 7340 N. Rogers, located just steps from Jordan School. Thank you for being a good citizen and informed voter.

We’ll see you Saturday morning!

State of the Union at the Heartland Cafe

January 25, 2011

I’m inviting everyone in our community to join me as we view President Barack Obama’s State of the Union Address on a big screen TV Tuesday, January 25th, 7:30 p.m., at the Heartland Cafe, 7000 N. Glenwood (at Lunt), just steps from the Morse Red Line stop.

The decisions made in Washington will affect the quality of life of every 49th Ward resident. Join me as we hear firsthand the President’s vision for our nation and his specific policy proposals for the coming year and beyond.

The party is open to all, regardless of your political views.

I am providing complimentary appetizers and soft drinks, and the Heartland will offer special deals on beer and wine.

An Evening with Toni Preckwinkle

January 21, 2011

My wife Barbara and I are opening our home to our friends and supporters this Monday evening (January 24th) for my annual fundraising benefit .  Please join us, along with our special guest and good friend, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, as we celebrate our many accomplishments and gear up for the last four weeks of my re-election campaign.

The party takes place this Monday (January 24th), 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at my home, 1431 W. Fargo .  Parking is still fairly plentiful that time of the evening, especially on Sheridan Road, just one-half block to the east.

Tickets to my event are $125 for individuals or $250 for a couple.

If you can give more, I certainly would appreciate it, as the cost of campaigning continues to increase and we have only four weeks left to get our message out to the voters.  We also have giving levels in the amounts of $5,000, $2,500, $1,500, $1,000 and $500.

However, I know times are tough for many, so if the ticket price is a little steep for you, please come at whatever price you can afford–$100, $50 or even $5. You’re welcome in my home regardless.

So please join Toni Preckwinkle, my wife Barbara and me for a delightful evening this Monday.  I hope to see you there!

Rally for Joe Moore, Saturday January 8th

January 4, 2011

The holidays are over and just seven weeks remain until the aldermanic and mayoral elections! My opponent is waging an active and visible campaign, so we have no time to waste. I need your help NOW!

Please join me for a RALLY TO RE-ELECT JOE MOORE this Saturday, January 8th, 10 a.m., at the campaign headquarters, 1774 W. Greenleaf (at Ravenswood). Refreshments will be served.

Come learn the many ways you can help ensure I’m re-elected to the City Council. Door-to-door work and phone banking are the most critical components of the campaign, but I could also use your help in getting my signs out and joining me as I greet commuters at the transit stops.

If you are able to help with door-to-door work on Saturday, please dress for the weather as we will be heading out together immediately following the rally.

Bring your friends and neighbors! I look forward to seeing you on Saturday!

The Campaign Begins

December 1, 2010

The candidates have filed their petitions and it looks like I’ll have at least one and possibly two or three opponents in this February’s aldermanic election.

I have a strong record of accomplishment to run on, but I’m not resting on my laurels. I’ll be going door-to-door and working the phones to get my message out. But there are 21,000 registered voters in the 49th Ward, so I can’t do it alone. I need your help.

We’re launching our voter outreach effort this weekend with door-to-door canvassing and phone banking at my Campaign Headquarters, 1774 W. Greenleaf (at Ravenswood).

The schedule is as follows:

Update: See the Volunteer page for more opportunities to build a stronger community together.

  • Door-to-Door Canvassing:
    Saturday, December, 4th, 10 a.m.
    Sunday, December 5th, 1 p.m.
  • Phone banking:
    Saturday, December 4th, 11 a.m.
    Sunday, December 5th 11 a.m.

Please join us for any or all of these efforts. Refreshments will be available.

If you are new at this, don’t worry. We have skilled volunteers who will provide you all the training you need. We will even partner you with someone to go door-to-door if you’d like.
If you’d like to volunteer, but can’t make it this weekend, don’t worry. Just reply to this e-mail and we’ll get back to you.

Thanks again for you help and support. I look forward to an exciting campaign!

Volunteer for Progress

November 18, 2010

Update: See the Volunteer page for more opportunities to build a stronger community together.

My re-election campaign is underway and I need your help. Unlike other political campaigns, which rely on political patronage workers, my campaign depends on volunteers–people like you who care about our neighborhood and care about moving our city in a progressive direction.

How can you help?  Please join me for a quick meeting this Saturday, November 20th, 10:00 a.m., at my campaign headquarters, 1774 W. Greenleaf (at Ravenswood), and my campaign leaders will fill you in on the variety of fun and exciting campaign activities you can participate in between now and Election Day on February 22nd.  Complimentary coffee and rolls will be available.

I look forward to seeing you as we begin our exciting campaign together!
